From Consensus to Change

Achieving consensus through a Delphi panel often marks the start of the journey to deliver lasting and meaningful change in healthcare. A publishable, citable set of results provides an excellent base for educating decision-makers on what needs to change, and how.

Getting there takes deliberate work. Clinicians, payers and policymakers each have limited time to engage with new evidence, and findings that stay inside a manuscript rarely shift guidelines or care pathways on their own. Communicating consensus well – choosing the right journal, disseminating the results to each audience in the format they will actually use, and sustaining the message beyond the first paper – is what closes the gap between “the panel agreed” and “practice changed”.

That amplification work is where Triducive’s involvement continues after the final consensus round closes.

How Triducive amplifies consensus

We employ a structured, three-step process to turn consensus results into change:

  1. Communicate and amplify the Delphi consensus results across your key audiences.
  2. Demonstrate thought leadership in the disease area or topic.
  3. Advocate for change among clinicians, payers and wider audiences.

Delphi consensus amplification

In practice, that runs through four workstreams:

Peer-reviewed publication. Publication is the foundation of everything that follows – it makes the consensus citable, defensible and usable in guideline and policy discussions. We advise on choosing the right journal for the findings and the audience, and on maximising acceptance with peer reviewers, drawing on a track record of over 50 peer-reviewed publications.

Dissemination. Once published, the results need to reach clinicians, payers and policymakers in forms they can digest and share: MSL and KAM materials (slide presentations, summary documents, posters and infographics), email campaigns, video content, and case studies and testimonials, each targeted to its audience.

Communication and advocacy campaigns. A dedicated communications programme, shaped to each client’s objectives and underpinned by the consensus results, builds momentum over time – maximising the impact of the study through message development, media engagement and press office work, social media, policy white papers, business cases, model care pathways, and advocacy events, from conference platforms and speaker schedules to hosted panels and webinars.

Publication extenders. One paper can sustain a long programme of influence. Publication extenders – infographics, video abstracts, podcasts and plain language summaries – translate the published consensus for each audience and keep it working long after the original publication date.

The outcome: evidence that supports change

Amplified well, a published consensus does more than sit in the literature. In our experience it informs guideline revisions, establishes best practice, supports referral and treatment pathway changes, and educates the medical community on what good care looks like — the outcomes that justified running the panel in the first place.

Triducive generates consensus-led evidence that gets published and supports change. If you are considering a consensus programme and want the results to carry through to practice, start with how to run a Delphi panel – amplification is designed in from the outset, and we get better decisions, actioned.

FAQs

What happens after a Delphi panel reaches consensus?

The results are prepared for peer-reviewed publication, then disseminated and amplified: audience-targeted content for clinicians, payers and policymakers, media and policy engagement, advocacy events, and publication extenders that sustain the message. The aim is agreed evidence carried through into changed practice.

Can Delphi consensus results be published in a peer-reviewed journal?

Yes. Publication is the standard output of a Triducive consensus programme – over 50 of our studies have been published in peer-reviewed journals, several in high-impact titles.

How do you decide which journal to target?

Journal choice balances the audience the findings need to reach, the journal’s scope and standing, and the realistic route to acceptance. Our guide to choosing a journal for a Delphi study sets out the considerations in full.

What are publication extenders, and how do they support change?

Publication extenders are formats that translate a published study for wider audiences – infographics, video abstracts, podcasts and plain language summaries. They simplify complex evidence and tailor it to each channel, so the consensus keeps reaching and influencing its audiences well beyond the original paper. Read more on publication extenders.
